ZALORA has been prepping for several appearances, and one of them was an appearance on Bella @NTV 7. We were so lucky to be invited to talk about our Ramadan collection with Daphne Iking on Bella, last Wednesday 25th July 2012. We had our Fashion Buyers Rozanna and Traditional wear buyer Shasha to give an insight on what’s hot and happening this Hari Raya!

The preparation for the appearance was a joint effort between myself and the buying team. We arrived at NTV7 with a rack full of baju kurung, kebaya’s and everything in between, even more than we could carry! Honestly I think it was quite difficult to pick out 5 outfits so we decided to bring the whole lot (just incase!). Once we arrived, we rushed into the studio for a quick run through.  It turned out that we had only a few minutes left before we went LIVE!

Hastily, we laid down all the clothes in a small private room NTV had reserved for us, and had a small discussion about which outfit was the best to be showcased on the models. This selection part was quite funny as it felt as if the seriousness of the conversation was quite like a life changing decision when it was just merely picking the green baju kurung or the red one (yes, us girls, that’s what we do! Decisions especially regarding fashion choices, are sometimes hard to make!)

After finally reaching a decision and finalizing the outfits for each model, we had some time to look around the studio before the Buyers sat down in the set. Although I wouldn’t be joining the Buying team on set, I couldn’t help but feel nervous watching from the sidelines!  The last time we made an appearance for live TV, it was literally a colourful, chaotic blur of madness, and this time I was silently praying that things would be smooth sailing. Thank God, the preparation went smoothly and in no time the Buyers were ushered onto set and the show began.

Daphne asked a lot about ZALORA, and all the wonderful things we had to offer (over 1000 products just for Raya, not to mention 5000 pretty women’s shoes to match it with!) She also asked for the latest tips and trends from the Buyers. According to Shasha and Rozana, this season we’re slowly moving away from the traditional Kebaya style  and slowly moving into Traditional wear with modern silhouettes, variations of the Kaftans, vintage baju kurungs, and tailored Baju Kurung Kedahs. We’ll see Kaftans and Jubahs in bright pops of colors, fuss-free Baju Kurungs in a relaxed fit and comfy fabric: polka dots, animal prints and geometric prints. What’s more exciting is that we can now start mixing and matching short kaftans with either sarongs, skirts and pareos! No more plain ol’ baju kurung in the same fabric. Raya Fashion has really reached an all new high this year!

For the interview, Shasha wore Jovian Mandagie’s Jiana in blue, while we had another Jovian Jovita on the mannequin.

During a commercial break, the PR team had to quickly dress the mannequin with Jovian’s Jovita. At one point I thought we weren’t going to make it in time, and people would see my panic-stricken face on live TV! Thank God that didn’t happen. The interview went extremely well and we were super excited that we had the chance to talk about our Raya Collection. You can check it out here. We even have great stuff for children and men! You can buy your whole family matching Raya outfits! This was surely one unforgettable TV appearance!

For more exciting interviews and ZALORA’s appearance on shows, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook so you can receive live updates! If you didn’t manage to catch us on the show that day, fret not, head on to tonton.com.my, and watch Bella, Episode 144.

These are some of the goodies we showcased during the show. Don’t you think they look so pretty? The pumps are from Nose, Kiss & Tell and Love By Z! The cute coral handbag is from December No. 5, and quilted clutch from ELLUI.

Here’s our model Aliza in the classy Jubah Janna in black. Search for other colours here. This Kaftan/Kebarung also has a sash and bow on the back so you can adjust it according to your waist! It’s super comfortable too!
