It was a hot and humid Tuesday afternoon, but that didn’t deter the ZALORA team and the OrphanCARE staff to come together to celebrate the children from Kompleks Penyayang Bakti. Since last 16th July 2012, ZALORA launched their first CSR campaign to help raise funds and support the efforts of OrphanCARE, a non-profit and non-governmental organization that aims to provide a safe and loving home for orphans and abandoned babies. During this period, ZALORA customers are able to make donations or donate Baju Raya to be given to the orphans so that they are able to celebrate Raya looking their best!
We arrived at the OrphanCARE headquarters situated in Kampung Tunku area, Petaling Jaya around 2pm. The bungalow house had been converted into a safe haven for abandoned babies and children. The recognisable baby hatch was situated by the front door of the centre. It was interesting to see the hatch face-to-face, it looked quite large, along with safety buttons and hi- tech features.

Also held this day was a cheque handover, where ZALORA presented a mock cheque of the RM10, 000 raised in aid of OrphanCARE. Members of the media attended the event and were each treated to some goodies from our partners : Dooodolls® and Cupcake Chic. But the most excited from the crowd were the children of course! In spite of getting a bit lost on their way there, the smiles on their faces were evident once they received the many goody-bags. Each goody bag was stuffed full with goodies such as dolls from Dooodolls® , Angry Birds notebooks, games, treats and donated Raya clothing. The children were also each given a scrumptiously, decorated cupcake from Cupcake Chic! These yummy treats came in vanilla and chocolate flavours, and were neatly decorated with a swirl of yellow and blue icing (the colours of OrphanCARE).

All in all, it was a good joint CSR effort with ZALORA, OrphanCARE, Dooodolls® and Cupcake Chic. ZALORA looks forward to continuing their CSR efforts for the future, so stay tuned!
